①Catalyst for MMA production and new functional monomer
MMA is a raw material monomer for PMMA (a transparent resin). The monomer production capacity of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group is ranked top in the world. The development of high performance catalyst for manufacturing MMA in order to increase the competitiveness of our plants, and the development of functional methacrylate monomer underpin the No. 1 MMA business in the world from a technology viewpoint.
②Enzymatic method for producing acrylamide
Acrylamide, which is used as a raw material for water treatment flocculants, paper strength additives, etc., used to be manufactured from acrylonitrile in a chemical synthesis process. We successfully developed an enzymatic method using microorganisms as biocatalyst first in the world and started industrial production. Since then, we have been conducting research and development to maintain our world-leading technology.
③Transparent resins and optical materials
We have continued to develop highly functional optical materials for the information ＆ communication field. We also provide technical services and develop processing technologies for methacrylic resin and sheets to offer solutions to our customers.
