Participation in the “Decarbonization x Reconstruction Town Development Platform”

The Mitsubishi Chemical Group (the MCG Group) hereby announces its participation in the Decarbonization x Reconstruction Town Development Platform established with the Ministry of the Environment as its secretariat.
The Decarbonization x Reconstruction Town Development Platform was launched on March 23, 2023, with the aim of having many entities, such as private companies inside and outside the region, cooperate for a long period of time while sharing common goals and recognition. The background to the initiative is the necessity of achieving both decarbonization and community reconstruction and revitalization in 12 municipalities in Fukushima Prefecture affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the nuclear accident, as well as forming a distinctive regional circular and ecological sphere in which the environment, economy and society thrive while making the most of local resources.
The MCG Group is promoting measures for GHG emissions reduction and effective utilization of GHGs throughout the value chain, aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 in its management policy of "Forging the future." Through its participation in the initiative, the MCG Group aims to reduce GHG emissions from plants and establish resource recycling models for industries such as agriculture, forestry and livestock, while collaborating and coordinating with local governments.
