The Mitsubishi Chemical Group Discontinues Production and Sale of Some Solid Bisphenol A Epoxy Resin Products

The Mitsubishi Chemical Group (the MCG group) hereby announces that it has decided to discontinue the production of some of its solid bisphenol A epoxy resin products at its Mie Plant and sale of the products at the end of March 2024. The production and sale of other materials, including solid epoxy resins, liquid epoxy resins and special epoxy resins, will be continued.
Although its epoxy resins are used for a wide range of applications, such as paint and adhesives, the MCG Group has found it difficult to continue production and sale of some of the solid bisphenol A epoxy resin products due to the tough business climate surrounding MCG and the aging production facilities.
Meanwhile, the MCG group is planning to establish a new facility for special epoxy resin for semiconductor encapsulants and electronic materials in its Fukuoka Plant in April 2023 in addition to the existing base in its Mie Plant. The MCG Group will continue to conduct active portfolio management, focusing on growing markets in which it has a competitive advantage.
