Direct measurement of fatty oils in volumetric titration: Margarine
Dairy products and fat and oil products are containing a lot of moisture, so they are mainly titrated directly using volumetric titration. Normally, a dehydrated solvent for sugars is used, but those which main component is lipids are measured using a dehydrated solvent for fat and oil. When using volumetric titration for fat and oil products, a dehydrated solvent for fat and oil is used for titration. Here we will introduce a method for measuring the moisture content in margarine.
Direct measurement of viscous samples in volumetric titration-1: Honey
Volumetric titration using a dehydrated solvent specifically designed for sugars is used to measure the moisture content of sugars. If the dissolution rate is slow or difficult, the titration is performed while the titration cell is heated below 45℃.
- ※Note that if the temperature exceeds 45°C, the formamide in the dehydrated solvent for sugars will gradually decompose, and the resulting decomposition products may obscure the titration endpoint. Because sugars are easily decomposed by heat, the moisture evaporation method should be avoided. This video introduces a method for measuring the moisture content of honey.
Measurement of viscous samples in coulometric titration with a vaporizer-2: Adhesive
Since adhesive-related samples have a wide range of moisture content, which are from trace to high, both of volumetric and coulometric titration methods are applied. In volumetric titration, the sample is dissolved or dispersed in a dehydrating solvent suitable for the sample and then titrated. For samples that do not dissolve in various dehydrating solvents, the moisture vaporization method is applied. In coulometric titration, samples that dissolve in a dehydrating solvent are titrated directly, but for samples that do not dissolve, the moisture vaporization method is used. This video introduces a method for measuring the moisture content of adhesives using coulometric titration with a vaporizer.

It also provides practical information on how to accurately and reproducibly measure hygroscopic and static-sensitive powder samples.
Measurement of resin samples in coulometric titration with a vaporizer: PVC
During the resin molding process, high temperatures are frequently reached, and trace amounts of moisture contained within the resin can cause foaming and, further, thermal decomposition, leading to a decrease in molecular weight and significantly affecting the resin's performance. For this reason, moisture measurement during the drying process of resins which are powder, pellets and so on, is extremely important. Karl Fischer method is ideal for measuring trace amounts of moisture in resins, and the moisture vaporization method allows for relatively quick which takes 10 - 30 minutes and accurate measurement of moisture content. Here, this video introduces a method for measuring the moisture content of PVC boards.

This video introduces a method for accurately measuring moisture in interfering lubricating oils using coulometric titration with a vaporizer. It introduces operating procedures that can be used for samples that are difficult to titrate directly due to vaporization at high temperatures. It also provides practical information such as how to avoid interfering reactions specific to lubricating oils, how to set the optimal vaporization temperature, and how to maintain stable measurement conditions.
Direct measurement for liquified gas samples in coulometric titration; LPG
Liquefied gases such as propane and butane are injected directly into a dehydrated solvent or electrolyte and measured by volumetric or coulometric titration. Since liquefied petroleum gas generally contains only trace amounts of water, coulometric titration is suitable. To accurately measure the water content of such samples, it is important to collect the sample from the liquid phase when injecting it. This section explains how to measure liquefied gas samples.
