Environment & Recycling
Mitsubishi Chemical’s carbon fiber reinforced plastics business delivers solutions to environmental problems
through the supply of high-performance materials and contributes to developing a globally sustainable world.
We are also aiming to establish a circular business model (circular economy) through recycling technology.

Impact on CO2 Reduction
in the Field of Mobility
Replacing conventional materials with carbon fiber reinforced plastics can reduce the weight of aircraft and automobiles.
Using carbon fiber to reduce weight and increase fuel efficiency makes it possible to cut CO2 emissions by far more than the CO2 emissions generated to manufacture the carbon fiber.

Higher Power Output from Wind Power Generators
The use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics instead of conventional materials for the blades of wind turbines, a renewable energy source, makes it possible to manufacture wind turbines with longer blades.
Since the theoretical power output of a wind turbine is proportional to the square of the blade length, using carbon fiber reinforced plastics to increase blade length enables a significantly higher power output.
See here for further information about wind turbine applications.
