PCD_BENEBiOL™

Polycarbonatediol(PCD) is a linear polycarbonate with hydroxyl groups at both ends. It easily reacts with isocyanate compounds (e.g. MDI, TDI, IPDI, H12MDI) and generates polymers with superior characteristics described below.
The proprietary manufacturing technology of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) enables production of unique composition and higher molecular weight PCDs with stable product qualities. The resins made from MCC’s PCDs "BENEBiOL™" have unique properties that existing resins have not been able to establish. In addition, some of the PCDs’ raw materials are biomass-based.

Applications

MCC’s PCDs “BENEBiOL™” have superior characteristics for use in the soft segment of polyurethane, acrylic resins and polyester resins.
The polymer obtained is durable, for use in a wide range of applications such as furniture, automobile interiors, automobile paints, plastic coatings for electronics, adhesives, films, seats and ordinary consumables and various industrial materials.
Its applications are expected to increase in the future.

STRAGE AND HANDLING

“BENEBiOL™” should be sealed in a container with dry nitrogen since it is moderately hygroscopic.
NLDB and NLB(Crystalline) grades are solid at room temperature, and it can become a colorless transparent liquid when heated.
Before using “BENEBiOL™”, to melt solid “BENEBiOL™” in a drum, it should be heated at temperature above its melting point.

Under transport regulations, “BENEBiOL™” is not classified as UN hazard class.
“BENEBiOL™” has low volatility and will not spontaneously ignite at room temperature. In the event of fire, dry chemicals foam and plenty of water spray are effective for extinguishing.

Safety glasses and protective gloves should be worn when handling “BENEBiOL™”.
