Acetate filament production
at Toyama plant to be rationalized

Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. and its Group company Mitsubishi Rayon Textile Co., Ltd. have decided to modify acetate filament production at the Toyama Production Center, to restore profitability in this business.

To increase the market competitiveness of triacetate fiber SOALON products, production of SOALON and diacetate fiber LYNDA will be rationalized by concentration at a single plant in the Toyama Production Center. Production for these two filament yarn brands is currently undertaken at separate facilities at the Center.

Based on earlier restructuring measures in our Fibers Operations, we aim to improve profitability through rationalized operations based on acrylic and acetate fibers.

[Schedule]
At the end of March 2011, we plan to end production at the LYNDA filament plant and launch intensive production of both LYNDA and SOALON products at the SOALON facility.

Acetate fibers: Using natural pulp as their main raw material. They are called as semi-synthetic fibers because of having combined functionality of natural and synthetic fibers. They have a silky luster and texture, and good chromogenic properties.
