Regarding the intention of the management of Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd., announced on November 11, 2008, to acquire all issued shares of Lucite International Group Limited of the United Kingdom, we hereby notify our shareholders and other interested parties regarding the status of the process of obtaining approval from relevant antitrust authorities.

Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. has received the necessary antitrust approvals from almost all relevant antitrust authorities with one exception where the review is still progressing. Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. and Lucite International continue to take the necessary steps to expedite completion.

We would like to complete the acquisition and consolidate the assets and liabilities of Lucite International in the balance sheet of Mitsubishi Rayon in the settlement of accounts for the business year ending March 31, 2009.In the event that this timing is not achieved we remain completely committed to closing as soon as possible thereafter.
