Announcement of Price Revisions on ACRYPET™ Brand
PMMA Resin Molding Material

Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. hereby notifies users that it has implemented price revisions on shipments of its ACRYPET brand of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin molding material, effective October 16, 2006. Details are as follows.

1.Price Raises:
  Japanese market: ¥30 per kilogram
For export: $300 per metric ton
2.Effective Date:
  Shipments from October 16, 2006
Background to Price Revisions

The cost of petrochemical products as a whole has been increasing as a result of the relentless upward trend of crude oil prices since the latter half of 2004. Moreover, MMA monomer, the principal raw material of PMMA, remains in tight supply against the backdrop of continued steady demand. In addition, a fall in the industry’s production capacity during the second quarter of fiscal 2006 has exacerbated the supply situation. This output decline has been caused by problems at certain production plants operated by competitors of Mitsubishi Rayon, as well as by the implementation of pre-scheduled large-scale repair and refurbishment work at our competitors’ plants. Further large-scale regular repair work is scheduled by a number of manufacturers of MMA monomer, and therefore the supply situation is projected to become even tighter. In view of these circumstances, Mitsubishi Rayon has been forced to revise its prices for shipments of ACRYPET.
