Regarding temporary stoppage of
MMA monomer production at factory of Mitsubishi Rayon's Thai subsidiary |
|
Production of MMA (methyl methacrylate)
at the plant in Map-Tha-Phut, Rayong in Thailand (annual production
capacity of 70,000 tons), which is operated by Mitsubishi Rayon's
subsidiary Thai MMA Co., Ltd.(TMMA), came to a halt on the
evening of September 23, local time, as a result of unexpected
electrical power failure.
Production was resumed on the evening of the 25th, but output
has still not returned to its normal level, and it may take 2-3 months to its
full production. TMMA is currently working very hard to minimize this problem.
Furthermore, one of the MMA plant at Mitsubishi Rayon's Otake
Production Center, which uses the acetone cyanohydrin (ACH) method, is at present
in the midst of its regular 45-day stoppage for repair and maintenance. In this
occasion, total production quantity of MMA and PMMA(poly methyl methacrylate)
is getting tight, but we are making a best effort to return to the normal situation
and satisfy our customer's needs at full speed. |
