A Pilot on Drinking Water Supply to a Private Hospital Has Started in Vietnam

Wellthy Corporation (Head office : Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President : Eiji Miyata, hereafter referred to as “Wellthy”), a subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. (Head office : Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President : Hitoshi Ochi) has started a pilot project using a membrane filtration system to supply drinking water at a private hospital in Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam since April 2015. This is the first pilot for Wellthy to supply drinking water to a private facility overseas. Through this pilot, Wellthy will accumulate know-hows over one year and apply them to expansion of its actual business overseas.
 
In Vietnam, people generally do not drink water directly from the tap. It is also the case for Lac Viet Friendship Hospiral (hereafter referred to as “Lac Viet Hospital”), where the pilot is going to be taken place, that bottled water is consumed for drinking purposes. In the pilot, a membrane filtration system, which uses city water as raw water, with a capacity of 20,000 liters per day is installed at Lac Viet Hospital. With this system, Wellthy will pursue to provide service water stably and at lower cost than the conventional way for drinking purposes and washing hands during surgical operation. The membrane filtration system is equipped with a remote monitoring system and thus, just like Wellthy’s plants commonly operating in Japan, it enables the real-time monitoring of water quality and the system’s operational conditions including video image.
 
In advance to this pilot, Wellthy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Environmental Technology, in April 2014, to cooperate in the fields of water and environment. Wellthy entrusts the water quality analysis to this institute during the pilot in order to provide the best solution that matches the water quality there.
 
Wellthy is a core company, whose business scope is to provide service water, under the Aqua Solution Block in Mitsubishi Rayon Group and its mid-to-long term target is to expand its overseas business. In their business in Japan, Wellthy mainly promotes decentralized water supply system that uses groundwater as its water source of treatment and combines with public water to secure dual water sources. On the other hand, for overseas project, Wellthy will promote business that realizes stable supply of service water from any source, depending on the local situation.
