Co-extruded, Multi-layered Film DIAMIRON Having Achieved FSSC 22000 Certification

Mitsubishi Plastics (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Takumi Ubagai) has the pleasure to announce that the DIAMIRON Manufacturing Division in the Azai Plant (Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture) achieved on April 10, 2015 the Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) as recognized by Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for the co-extruded, multi-layered film*1 DIAMIRONTM widely used for the food packaging. * Registered No.: JQA-FC0071


We at Mitsubishi Plastics have positioned the co-extruded, multi-layered film DIAMIRONTM as one of our growth businesses and are working to expand its sales. It is a high-performance film offering a diversity of features that can be customized in accordance with customer needs in respects such as gas-barrier performance, easy-peel properties, and high heat-resistance, as well as the food packaging films finding wide applications in deep-draw packaging*2, laminate raw films, pillow packaging, tray packaging or bag packaging, with the many sales achievements garnered. This customization of functions in correspondence with the variety of needs has been given high marks by customers, and the demand has been steadily growing.


The FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System certification achieved this time by the DIAMIRON Manufacturing Division in Azai Plant has categories A to K made available for the variety of industries of the food supply chains for the safe food and drinks. DIAMIRONTM falls into the category I (food packaging and manufacturing of the packaging materials) and for the achievement of the certification, hygienic environment enhancement is required including not only for the manufacturing area but the dining room, locker rooms, rest rooms, lounges used by the employees and the analysis for the every possible hazardous factors is required ranging from the cross contamination*3 prevention, entry/exit control for the production site, management of the chemicals, contamination prevention from the terrorism. The achievement of the certification this time has been reached with an effort for risk reduction along with the capital investment since 2013.


By taking advantage of the excellent functionality, quality and proposal values of the DIAMIRONTM and based on the FSSC 22000 certification and the continuous improvement, we strive to keep providing the users the food packaging film of the safe quality.


*1 A multi-layered film endowed with plural functions including gas-barrier performance and easy-peel properties. It is produced by simultaneous film formation using a number of plastic materials.
*2 Types of packaging composed of bottoms with an indentation made by thermoforming and flat tops used as is.

*3 Something less contaminated is further contaminated through contact with anything of higher contamination. It could happen, for example, when a person comes across another person or a thing in a crossing between the contaminated area and the non-contaminated area.

1. FSSC 22000 is a certified benchmark recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) derived from the integration of the Food Safety Management System ISO 22000 and the supplemental Technical Specification ISO/TS 22002-4.
2. Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a lower organization in The Consumer Good Forum (TCGF) engaging in the activities for the food safety for authorizing the safety standard concerning the food manufacturing to be complied with by the food companies.
3. The Consumer Good Forum (TCGF) is an organization composed of approx. 650 companies of distribution industries, retailers and manufacturers in 70 countries (in Japan, 80 companies) with HQ in Paris.
