Establishment of a new company upon reorganization and integration of industrial film business

Feb. 3, 2014

Effective April 1, 2014, Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President Takumi Ubagai) is going to establish a new company named "DiaPlus Film Inc." (Head Office: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture; President Tsunehisa Yamada), following the reorganization and integration of its business in soft PVC film & sheet and polyolefin film used mainly in industrial applications. This step is being taken for a further reinforcement of the setup for this business, which is currently sited in Mitsubishi Plastics and its consolidated subsidiary Ryoko Plastic Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Yoro County, Gifu Prefecture; President Tsunehisa Yamada).

Mitsubishi Plastics is engaged in the manufacture and sale of soft PVC film and polyolefin film in use for construction materials, information & electronics technology, automobiles, medical materials, and other equipment. Ryoko Plastic, meanwhile, manufactures and sells items including soft PVC sheet and laminated products (from secondary processing) used as sheet for transparent partitions in factories, civil engineering water-shielding sheet for waste treatment sites, and waterproofing sheet for building rooftops. The two companies had long cooperated with each other in their development of such business. In October 2013, Mitsubishi Plastics transformed Ryoko Plastic into a wholly-owned subsidiary in order to deepen coordination in the aspects of both manufacture and sales. Even after this step, it embarked on studies about the advisable setup for making the business even more competitive. As a result, it was decided to reorganize and integrate the business in the two companies, and site it in a new company (the aforementioned DiaPlus Film) formed from Ryoko Plastic. Besides making the organization slimmer and facilitating the sharing of information and technology through unified operation of the business in the new company, we intend to build a more compact setup conducive to swifter decision-making.

In addition to the wide-ranging product assortment centered around soft PVC film & sheet, the newly launched DiaPlus Film will expand its business territory to include products of secondary processing such as lamination, welding, sewing, and punching, to raise levels of competitiveness even higher. Through the new company, we at Mitsubishi Plastics are going to redouble our efforts to develop products closely attuned to user wants and needs, and nurture the business into a new pillar of our group.
