Mitsubishi Plastics Trading Shanghai Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "MPS") established its branch (hereinafter "MPS Shenzhen") in the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, effective November 1, 2013. The major objective of the new location, MPS Shenzhen, lies in expanded sales of separators for lithium-ion secondary batteries in the Chinese market.

Situated next to Hong Kong, Shenzhen is an internationally-minded city that has contributed to China's economic advancement as one of its Special Economic Zones. It has an array of intensive industrial estates designed for high-tech and information-electronics industries. Chinese manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries have sited production plants as well as research and development facilities in the South China area centered around Shenzhen. The increased demand for Chinese-made smartphones is projected to drive a further expansion of the market for Chinese-made lithium-ion secondary batteries along with an increase in requisite levels of quality. Against this background, MPS decided to set up MPS Shenzhen as a branch with the mission of reinforcing efforts to build up sales of our separators for lithium-ion batteries in China.

With an operation conducted mainly by the local staff consisting of Chinese nationals, MPS Shenzhen will strive to cultivate new customers for and expand sales of separators. To this end, it will respond promptly to wants and needs among manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries in China and offer on-site technical support by engineers stationed at the branch. Further in the future, we intend to make full use of the capabilities of MPS Shenzhen to expand sales of new-energy- and electronics-related products, too.
