Launch of Import and Sales of Small Adsorption Chillers Manufactured by InvenSor
Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President Takumi Ubagai) announces the launch of sales on July 1st of InvenSor LTC, a small adsorption chiller imported from InvenSor GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "InvenSor"), a German manufacturer of adsorption chillers utilizing AQSOATM, a high-performance zeolite we produce.
A unique high-performance zeolite, AQSOATM is distinguished by its ability to adsorb and desorb water vapor at low temperatures. Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. has positioned it as a new business and is striving to expand it as such. While AQSOATM has several applications, one of the pillars of the business is adsorption chillers and their heat exchangers, which deliver a big energy-savings benefit through their effective use of low-temperature waste heat in factories and from solar water-heater panels. In this application field, the Company has long been working to expand business around large adsorption chillers directed to factories and large-scale commercial facilities. Meanwhile, installation of cogeneration systems is expected to gather momentum over the coming years among even small-scale facilities running electrical and air-conditioning equipment around the clock, such as data centers, homes for the aged, and convenience stores partly because of the provision of subsidies from the Japanese government for it. There are consequently good prospects for a rapid widening of the market for small adsorption chillers that use the waste heat from cogeneration systems and are designed for indoor installation. In response, the Company has decided to import the InvenSor LTC, a small adsorption chiller manufactured by the German firm InvenSor, which employs AQSOATM coated heat exchangers. Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. will launch sales of this product in Japan on July 1st.
InvenSor LTC, the adsorption chiller that is the subject of this sales launch, is combining a cooling capacity of 7-10 kW with compact measurements (110 cm long, 137 cm high, and 75 cm wide) and light weight (390 kg). It uses heat exchangers coated with the high-performance zeolite AQSOATM. The chiller can be driven by heat sources with temperatures around 60-70C. This enables use of low-temperature waste heat from cogeneration systems and solar heat as driving sources for a high energy-saving effect. Moreover, because there is very little need for maintenance, the chiller also helps to reduce maintenance-related work and cost. Recognition of its excellent performance has led to big market shares in Germany and other European countries as well as several awards for efficient and green cooling.
Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. is adding the small adsorption chiller manufactured by InvenSor to its sales assortment with a view to expanding business in adsorption chillers utilizing AQSOATM. This step likewise manifests our commitment to respond to social needs for conservation of energy and achieve the KAITEKI advocated by Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation.
