Mitsubishi Plastics starts full-scale sales of compact and highly efficient
“AQSOA™ desiccant dehumidifier” that effectively dehumidifies at law temperatures
Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President Takumi Ubagai) starts full-scale sales of “AQSOATM desiccant dehumidifier” in mid-May. Employing AQSOATM, the Company’s unique zeolite-based vapor-adsorbent material, this new dehumidifier is highly efficient and relatively compact for its power, with an air processing capacity of 240-360 m3 per hour.
In 2009, Mitsubishi Plastics has launched “AQSOATM desiccant air-conditioner” that controls the humidity (water vapor) in the air by using a desiccant. This air-conditioner in its core part is equipped with a honeycomb rotor on which the Company’s unique zeolite-based adsorbent AQSOATM is bonded. The AQSOATM is able to efficiently release water vapor – even at relatively low temperatures (104℉-176℉) and also sufficiently reduces the cooling load of the air-conditioner compared with conventional adsorbents like silica gel. Since its release, the Company has received increasing orders from large-scale commercial facilities and factories. In addition, air-conditioners using AQSOATM can dehumidify the air at a dew point of 41℉ or lower, which has been considered difficult with conventional freezers: therefore, it can be used for freezer/refrigerated warehouses in reducing condensation and ice as well as preventing the growth of mold and rust.
The new compact dehumidifier “AQSOATM desiccant dehumidifier” was developed in response to the demand for a more compact desiccant dehumidifier that processes a small amount of air volume. Such a demand comes mainly from small-sized freezer/refrigerated warehouses and electric/electronic parts factories where strict humidity control and partial air-conditioning are required. By utilizing necessary functions of its conventional model, Mitsubishi Plastics has successfully developed a compact, highly efficient dehumidifier that processes the air volume of 240-360 m3 per hour. In addition, due to its compact size, this new dehumidifier can be hanged directly to the ceiling, thus there is no need to worry about the space for installation. The Company has started marketing this product at the end of 2011 through collaboration with Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering Corporation, a group company of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings, its parent company. The product has already been adopted by some customers including Aira Refrigerated Distribution Center of Japanese Consumers’ Co-operative Union.
Mitsubishi Plastics will strive to promote the sales of this new compact “AQSOATM desiccant dehumidifier”, targeting customers such as commercial facilities, factories and warehouses, through collaboration with Mitsubishi Chemical Engineering Corporation as well as with another group company Mitsubishi Plastics Marketing Co., Ltd. as a distribution outlet. The Company aims to achieve the sales goal of 1.5 billion yen by 2015.
