Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President Takumi Ubagai) announces that its consolidated subsidiary MKV Dream Co., Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President Katsutoshi Ogihara), a leading manufacturer of agricultural materials, will change the name to Mitsubishi Plastics Agri Dream Co., Ltd. as of January 1, 2013.

 

[Background and objectives]
　Since its establishment, Mitsubishi Chemical MKV Company (the predecessor of MKVDream) has been leading the agricultural materials industry as a member of the Mitsubishi Group. However, the company discontinued to bear the name of “Mitsubishi”, when MKV Platech Co., Ltd. was formed in April 2004 by Mitsubishi Chemical MKV and Mitsui Chemical Platech Co., Ltd. after spinning off and integrating their respective agricultural material businesses as part of a restructuring of the industry. Thereafter, upon acquisition of two subsidiaries engaged in agricultural material businesses from the Mitsubishi Plastics Group in July 2009, MKV Platech changed its name to current MKV Dream Co., Ltd. However, we have received many messages from customers who trust, and wish the resurgence of, our agricultural material products under the “Mitsubishi” brand. Furthermore, we recognized that it is absolutely advantageous for our businesses to use the name of “Mitsubishi” since it has already earned a high degree of confidence and trust of customers inside and outside Japan. Such benefits will be realized, in particular, in the efforts to secure MKV Dream’s top-ranked market share of agricultural films, one of its core businesses, as well as to accelerate the launch of a new plant production system with solar light, early commercialization of biodegradable mulch films and medical plants, and expansion into overseas markets focusing on Asia. Therefore, it has been determined to change the name of MKV Dream to Mitsubishi Plastics Agri Dream Co., Ltd. as of January 1, 2013.
 

 By reviving the brand name of “Mitsubishi” in its name Mitsubishi Plastics Agri Dream Co., Ltd., MKV Dream will continue to strive to enhance the brand power to facilitate further business growth.
