Mitsubishi Plastics Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President Hiroshi Yoshida) transformed its Istanbul representative office located in the Republic of Turkey into a local subsidiary, Mitsubishi Plastics Euro Asia Ltd. (MPEA), on June 22, 2011, in order to expand sales in Turkey and neighboring countries. MPEA will launch sales activities on July 1.

Mitsubishi Plastics has listed accelerating its overseas expansion as one of the important management issues for the company and has implemented various measures to accomplish, including establishing Mitsubishi Plastics Asia Pacific in Singapore in January 2009; creating a strategic partnership with Quadrant AG, the largest manufacturer of engineering plastic products in the world, in the same year; and establishing Mitsubishi Plastics Trading Shanghai Co., Ltd., in April 2011. The transformation of the Istanbul representative office into a local subsidiary is another one of these measures.

Having established the Istanbul representative office in 2006 to support sales of the aluminum-plastic composite material ALPOLIC™ in the region around Turkey, which is experiencing dramatic growth, Mitsubishi Plastics was able to expanded sales. This region is expected to experience further growth, and Mitsubishi Plastics has strengthened its foundation for community-based sales in the high-growth markets of Eastern Europe, the Middle East (in some countries), Central Asia, and North Africa by transforming its Istanbul representative office into a local subsidiary that can undertake sales activities in these markets that are expected to experience further growth. Moreover, MPEA will function as the strategic base for the Group in the region, and the target is for the company to generate sales of around 3.0 billion yen in FY2015.
