Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President Hiroshi Yoshida) will establish Mitsubishi Plastics Trading Shanghai Co., Ltd., a local subsidiary in Shanghai, China, (referred to below as the “new Chinese company”) in April 2011 to strengthen Mitsubishi Plastics’ expansion into the Chinese market.
Mitsubishi Plastics has listed “accelerating expansion overseas and raising the percentage of total sales accounted for by overseas sales” as one of the basic policies in its new medium-term business plan, which starts in 2011. The founding of this local subsidiary is one effort to achieve this.
The new Chinese company will be established to expand sales of the Group’s products, such as polyester films, electronic and industrial films, parts and materials for solar cells, and aluminum fibers, in the Chinese market, which is continuing to grow, and to pull together the various group companies operating in China by introducing corporate functions.
Mitsubishi Plastics has set a sales target of 7.0 billion yen for the new Chinese company in FY2015. This and other measures are also being implemented to achieve the goal of having overseas sales account for 45% of total Mitsubishi Plastics Group sales in FY2015.
