In October 2010, Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; president: Hiroshi Yoshida) will launch sales of the Mitsubishi ROOFIT™ SD rain gutter. ROOFIT™ SD's simple form harmonizes with today's wider range of home styles, and it features such improved functionality as better weather resistance and less stretch.
In addition to simply draining rainwater, rain gutters also play a vital role in protecting a roof's eaves. Global warming is causing increasingly intense UV radiation and higher temperatures during summertime, and this can cause rain gutters to become discolored and deformed. Rain gutters must have the durability to stand up to these conditions, while at the same time being easy to work with, so that they can be installed by non-specialists in a shorter period of time.
In order to provide the high level of functionality to meet these market needs, MPI launches the new plastic rain gutters ROOFIT™ SD with the following features..
1) | The product's form fuses with the designs of today's diverse range of housing designs, and four colors are available to match both Japanese and Western home styles. |
2) | The new product is about 30% less stretchable than our previous (plastic) rain gutters. It can be simply installed over the eave for up to 12 meters without expansion joints for absorbing shrinkage and expansion due to changes in temperature, giving the eaves a more streamlined look. |
3) | The new product is more rigid, preventing sag and reducing the number of supporting brackets that must be used. |
4) | The top and bottom surfaces are covered with a highly weather-resistant plastic, maintaining the product's good appearance over a long period of time. |
5) | The product uses a leaf guard that can be snapped easily into brackets. The bracket method makes it easy to install and remove the leaf guard, facilitating cleaning and other maintenance. |
The new product is also lower priced than our previous product, and the features above also make it possible to reduce the numbers of expansion joints and supporting brackets used. This can greatly reduce the total cost of ownership, including installation.
MPI will actively market Mitsubishi ROOFIT™ SD rain gutters to large prefab home manufacturers, home builders, architectural firms, and construction firms. It aims to reach ¥300 million in net sales after three years.
