Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; president: Hiroshi Yoshida) has developed a new M-HI Series in its Hishi ™Cooling Tower line. Amid increasing environmental awareness, this new series was developed in order to meet customers' demand for a more energy-efficient and space-saving design. Based on the Ri Series, the Hishi ™Cooling Tower M-Hi Series has a smaller footprint, and is up to about 40%* more energy efficient than MPI's previous product. MPI will launch sales on 30 July 2008. MPI launched the first model in the Hishi ™Cooling Tower Series in 1962. It has since expanded its lineup greatly, in order to provide the wide range of installation conditions and specifications required by buildings, plants, and other applications, including cubed open-type cooling towers, closed-type cooling towers, and round open-type cooling towers. |
Hishi ™Cooling Tower |
A cooling tower lowers the temperature of water that has been heated through use in an HVAC chiller or the like by dripping the water over a filler in the cooling tower, and creating contact between the water and outside air drawn in by a fan. Ordinarily, the internal filler of a cooling tower has a two-stage structure, but this new product uses three stages. The tower design has also been optimized to improve the water-cooling efficiency, enabling energy savings of up to about 40%* more than MPI's previous products (reduced electricity consumption). The use of a three-stage filler also reduces the width of the cooling tower, which makes it possible to reduce the installed footprint at the same time. Additionally, the entire module can be transported to the site and installed, reducing both installation times and costs.
MPI remains committed to developing and supplying cooling towers that meet the energy-efficiency and other needs of its customers.

Cooling tower
These are installed to cool the water used in the chillers of building, factory, and other HVAC systems. A cooling tower lowers the temperature of water that has been heated through use in the chiller by dripping the water over internal filler, and creating contact between the water and outside air drawn in by a fan. The chilled water is then used again by the chiller.
