Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd.

[DHR47GT1]

Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku Tokyo, President: Shigenori Otsuka) will launch Green Tune, the recordable DVD mastering disc, in the middle of October. The Green Tune DVD-R can reproduce the very highest quality of sound, making it ideal for professional music production.

Mitsubishi Kagaku Media launched the Green Tune CD-R mastering disc in 2005, however now the DDP format*2 is becoming more widespread in the mastering industry, requiring a greater volume of space for mastering discs. Using the experience and technology acquired through producing the CD-R, Mitsubishi Kagaku Media has completed the development of a high quality DVD to meet the strict demands of professionals.

The key feature of the Green Tune DVD-R is a pure gold coating*3 which has been applied to the disc's reflective layer. The gold layer is extremely durable and enables the highest quality in sound recording. The pure gold reflective layer not only provides a fine depth and clarity of sound, but it also improves*4 the long-term storage capability of the disc (i.e. longer-lasting). Additionally, on the recording surface, the disc utilizes highly reliable AZO dye*5 developed by Mitsubishi Kagaku Media. Furthermore, the high-precision molding technology*6 that has been applied to this latest generation of discs, which are compatible with blue-violet lasers, also contributes to the improvement of the disc's features.

A hard coating*7 protects the recording surface from scratches and dirt. The storage box is an Amaray case commonly used for movie media. This setup allows for the easy removal and insertion of the disc. From the disc media to the device casing, every aspect of the Green Tune Mastering DVD-R is designed to meet professional standards.

The Mitsubishi Kagaku Media/Verbatim Group aims to become a recording media company that continues to create new values demanded by the time.

*2. Disc Description Protocol (DDP) Format. A file format for mastering discs required in order to make and copy magneto optical discs.
*3. Uses pure gold for the reflective layer.
*4. This results in an improvement in durability compared to conventional DVD-R products. Based on results of an archival test under high humidity, high temperature conditions (90?/80%RH).
*5. AZO dye, which have proven results with CDs and DVDs, are a highly reliable material used on the disc's recording layer and have become standard in the industry.
*6. The manufacturing technique of the stamper, which is a fundamental part of manufacturing optical discs; one of the core technologies in disc manufacturing.
*7. Applying a hard coat layer to protect the recording surface from scratches and dirt.
