Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd. ("MKM") (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Shigenori Otsuka) announces development of a 8x double-layer DVD+R disc. On May 27, 2005, the disc became the first of its kind in the world to receive certification from the Philips Verification Laboratory*2. "With this certification," said MKM Chief Information Officer Shigeru Tamura, "we can now put the product on the market. That means you can expect to see 8x double-layer DVD+R discs from MKM sometime this summer."
