| Change of Company Name of Yuka Medias And Introduction
of New Product |

Yuka Medias Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Inashiki-gun, Ibaragi Prefecture; President:
Yasuhiro Morinaka), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi hemical Corporation
(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kanji Shono), will change its name
to Mitsubishi Kagaku Medical, Inc. as from October 1, 2001.
Yuka Medias was established in 1993 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi
Chemical and by adding sales activities of Mitsubishi Chemical's Diagnostic Division
last October, it has become an integrated diagnostic company conducting from development
to manufacturing and sales. Since it will further reinforce diagnostic businesses,
enter into new fields such as post genome, and promote businesses abroad in line
with Mitsubishi Chemical Group's business strategy in life science field, the
company has decided to change its name.
As a new business, the company has been developing a new emergency department
testing system (product name "FasTraQ") and protein chip for post genome
based on the next-generation grating-coupled SPR that Mitsubishi Chemical has
acquired an exclusive right to use from the US Quantech Ltd. and HTS Biosystems,
Inc. together with relevant technology of Mitsubishi Chemical Group such as optical
disk-related technology.
Meanwhile, the company will launch "LPIA-NV7", a new product of fully
automatic latex photometric immunoassay system on October 1. It is the most up-to-date
product of the "LPIA" series of fully automatic latex photometric immunoassay
system. In addition that it measures and outputs results in very short time (5
to 10 minutes), it has made the measuring easy, can stand by for 24 hours a day,
and realized a compact size to suit for emergency department. The product is sold
by its sole agent, Dia-Iatron Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President:
Osamu Naito) in Japan.
