Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayuki Waga) is proud to announce that Dr. Barry Arkles, Chair, Founder, and CEO of its subsidiary Gelest, Inc. (Gelest; Head office: Pennsylvania, the United States) that develops, manufactures, and supplies silicones, organosilanes, metal-organics, and specialty monomers, has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

The NAE comprises an elected membership of 2,653 engineers as members and international members, honoring those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice, or education, including numerous Nobel laureates. Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.

The election of Dr. Arkles recognizes his pioneering contributions to organosilicon materials and organometallic and biochemical reagents. MCC believes that Gelest's outstanding technologies in organic-inorganic hybrid chemistry that Dr. Arkles and his team have developed over the years, combined with MCC’s strength in organic chemistry technologies will lead to the creation of new value that spans markets where future growth is expected, including healthcare, semiconductors, and life science.

The MCC Group will continue its ongoing efforts to establish world-class technologies in fields that are essential to the growth of its businesses.
